i like to talk politics but i am ashamed to admit that i've only been a registered voter for almost a month. yes, i know! i have an excuse, i was 18 when i moved to new york and when i moved back to MNL permanently, i never had the time nor the pathos to vote. i did not have the right to complain about government/national issues. and that's really shameful.
so this time, i took it upon myself to take the time and the effort to line up and register myself to vote. i took the day off, went to my city's COMELEC office and lined up just like everybody else. it was, quite honestly, a liberating and powerful experience. i also moved towards encouraging people like myself - liberal, educated, successful, young and driven - to register. there really is no excuse not to register and to vote. we're the future of this country, we are only to blame for who we vote and who runs this darn country. there are so many issues that need to be resolved. i also am very passionate about specific laws such as THE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILL.
to people who have not yet registered, you have today and tomorrow to register. here's a link i got from spot.ph (via wysgal) - tips on when, where and how to register. really helped me a lot. i also suggest bringing unregistered friends, especially now that i heard the wait can go up to 7.5 hours!
so please - MY PEOPLE! MY FRIENDS! MY PEERS! let your voice be heard. ROCK THE VOTE.

thanks to chuvaness, power plant mall, the french embassy and rustan's for inviting me to the coco avant chanel premiere last monday. it was really a treat to be one of the first people to watch the movie in MNL. the fashion was amazing, as one should expect from a movie about one of the most revolutionary women in fashion. we wouldn't be wearing black, trousers or the LBD without coco!
and great to meet kate torralba, a twitter star i follow! truly the renaissance woman. :)

as you all know, i've been such a madonna since i was 5 years old. i've always loved her- i was mesmerized by her unconventional style and awed by her unabashed defiance against gender conventions. and i've written all about it for this sunday's philippine star. :)
for the full story, please read it here.

| remember the time i was obsessed with getting a chanel-themed tat? well, i got it ;) and contrary to popular belief, it is not a tattoo of the interlocking Cs, ok!
anyway, as it turns out, kaiser karl made the models in the most recent chanel show sport rub-on chanel tattoos on their wrists. varying chanel accessories were the theme - chains, pearls and charms.
(photo courtesy of jak and jill blog)
i love it. wish i could get another tat but i promised my mother the leo symbol i got a month ago (technically, i have 3 in total) would be the last one. on a side note, my mother is hilarious coz when she saw the 3rd one, she told me "in a 100 years, when archeologists dig up your well-preserved remains, they'd think you're a tribeswoman". harhar.
but, chanel + tattoos = <3.

interesting link/book i got from wysgal, it's a book called "why men marry some women and not others". this book is based on 3000 interviews and statistical data. some are pure common sense, but a few of the things in the book are very interesting.
i read a summary of the book and starts off with the six basic guidelines for women to get married: 1. Insist on it. (CHECK) 2. If you find yourself in a dead-end relationship, move on.(OK WILL TRY) 3. Love yourself first.(CHECK 4. Commit yourself to the idea of getting married (uhmmm i was into it a couple of years ago, now i'm like in limbo about this, BUT FINE) 5. Keep in shape, watch your weight, and take care of your appearance (TRYING!!!!) 6. Time is running out—use time wisely in your search for the marrying man (NOTED)
i've learned a lot of things, maybe you should try reading it too.

| i've been running the past few years, for health and weight loss. and in recent weeks, i've been having a stabbing pain every time i put on some weight on my right foot. at first, i could ignore it. in fact, i did a couple of HIIT sessions(high intensity interval training) the last two weeks to jump start my metabolism. but yesterday was something else.
i was doing warm up when i started my sprinting and....POW. painnnnnnnnnnnnn. i had to stop on my 3rd HIIT rep coz i couldn't take it any longer. i tried going for a foot reflexology massage yesterday and it still hurst. after further research, i therefore concluded that i have plantar fasciitis.

i have to wear flats until the pain subsides, which is CRAP. but if this plantar fasciitis continues, i may have to start wearing these or CROCS. *shudders* i will also need to go to a podiatrist which unfortunately is not available in manils, so i have to see a sports doctor.
apart from my running, i also think the "3-hour standing and walking on my chanel b&w pumps" activity during the HMG launch was the culprit to the complication of my plantar fasciitis.
(thanks to jujiin.com for the photo)
oh. how sad that i would suffer for fashion. ;(

| i read old entries on livejournal. WOW! we were all oversharing ha. it was so funny! i started homaygess in 2003. kind of late as i know some people were here as early as 2000. remember the days when livejournal was invite only? yah, i had to wait for an invite. coz you know livejournal was the shiz. you weren't cool if you didn't have LJ.
i think it was galiwaw who gave my initial invite. cecile still used bdf back then. and i also had a short stint as the blog of the moment in 2004-2005. yes, i had 400 viewers a day, akala mo sikat na ko di ba? WAHAHAHAHA. i mean, compared to chuvaness who has like 20,000 a day, 400 was so nothing.
and guys, do you remember PRETTY PAMELA? and how she copied my lj entries and paraded like she was me? OMG. i re-read it just now i was laughing so hard. i DIED. for your viewing pleasure, here is the controversial entry and the 152 comments that came with it. thanks to all my lj friends who made away pretty pamela. that was a riot!
i will echo the sentiments that facebook and twitter have made us a little more impersonal, a lot more guarded. but guys, you realized we started out here in livejournal as very young adults. some of you guys were probably teenagers back then.i was in my early 20s. maturity lends you to edit yourself.
what not to say, what to say. what is not cool, what is cool. remember entries that just went on and on about what we did that day? or how we'd post pictures of vacations and parties. remember how we'd get annoyed when people won't even re-size their photos or put them under an lj-cut coz our friends' page loaded like a slow mofo? honestly, as much as it was annoying, i felt like we all shared that experience with all our livejournal friends. it was such a shared bond and i know many of you will agree, translated sooo well in real life. it is so amazing that most of the people i hang out with now are people i met through livejournal or our friendship was enhanced by this great community.
it's kind of weird that a sad event would make us all realize of who we were and who we are. how much we've evolved and how much we all have stayed the same. and how important it is to maintain relationships that were important part of our lives.
writing this entry is so liberating. i thought i was over writing a long ass entry that did not involve heartache and confusion thinking i got spoilt by twitter's 140 characters, but this is definitely cool.

it's no secret that one of my favorite blogs to read every day is nymag.com's daily intel. it's just this awesome blog that is chocfull of things i'm interested in - celebrities, new york, pop culture, politics, socialites and of course, gossip girl! their gossip girl recaps are the best and the most talked about among the fans and non-fans alike.
so for this sunday, please read my exclusive interview with daily intel's jessica pressler and chris rovzar as they talk about their gossip girl addiction, the show's plot and stars and everything in between.
p.s. who would've thunk gossip girl can be on the front page with the obama-mccain presidential showdown? LOL.
